Newport Solid roof

patio cover 17Newport Solid roof covers are a great way to create a shaded and protected outdoor  living space. Solid roof covers keep the rain away as well as offer 100% shade for year round comfort. Many upgrades are available for solid roof covers such as fan mounting, can lighting, post lighting, and heaters. A solid roof cover will expand your living space by making you patio a comfortable area to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Solid roof covers are normally mounted to your homes wall, eave, or roof on one side and is supported by posts on the other side. Usually the posts will be anchored to a concrete slab with hardware called wedge anchors. If you have pavers or wish to have the posts on a surface other than a concrete slab we may need to pour a footing for the posts. Post spacing is determined by several factors such as over width and projection of the cover but is usually around 10’ apart. Much longer distances may be spanned with the posts by adding steel inserts inside the posts and the header. Distances up to 22’ may be spanned offering minimal post interference and maximum usable space.  On the house side of the cover we start by installing a channel to support the interlocking pans that create the roof. Next the panels are interlocked and secured to the channel on the house side and the header on the post side. After the pans are all installed we install a gutter to catch the rain water at the post side of the cover. There is then a decorative facade installed after the gutter giving the cover a nice finished look. There are several end cut designs available all at no additional cost. The decorative tails my be forgone if that look is not desired.

Solid roof covers have optional upgrades available. You could add a ceiling fan for a some air flow and light. Specially designed can lights are also available for a elegant lighting option. Post lights can be installed on either the house side, yard side, or both sides of the posts for additional lighting. You could also install a space heater for comfort in the cooler months. Columns are also available in lieu of the standard posts and add a beautiful accent to any patio cover.
